How to unsubscribe from Airbnb emails
To unsubscribe from Airbnb emails, go to Account → Notifications on airbnb.com (the direct address is airbnb.com/account-settings/notifications) and work through the toggles there. Airbnb is more granular than most brands: marketing lives under Offers and updates, while messages, reminders, and account mail live under Account, each with its own per-channel switches - so you can kill the inspiration and promo mail without ever touching a reservation message from a host. Some notifications, like reservations and security notices, cannot be turned off at all.

Method 1: the Notifications settings grid
- Log in at airbnb.com and click your profile picture, then Account. In the app, tap Profile and open settings.
- Open Notifications - or jump straight to airbnb.com/account-settings/notifications.
- Under Offers and updates, switch off email for the marketing categories - travel tips and inspiration, promotions, and news about Airbnb programs.
- Open the Account section and leave messages, reminders, and account notifications on so trips still work.
Every category exposes separate toggles per channel, so you can drop the emails while keeping push notifications, or the reverse. That grid is the reason the footer link alone undersells what Airbnb actually lets you control.
What you cannot switch off
Airbnb pins a set of notifications as mandatory: reservations, account activity, legal updates, security and privacy notices, and customer service requests. No toggle exists for them, which is the right call - a host cancellation or a login alert should never be silenced by a marketing preference. If an email annoys you and there is no toggle for it, it is almost certainly in this bucket.
Method 2: the unsubscribe link in the email
The footer Unsubscribe link in a promotional or community email opts you out of that category without a login, and Gmail and Apple Mail surface Airbnb's List-Unsubscribe header as the native one-click button at the top of the message. It is the quick fix for the one email in front of you; the Notifications page remains the only place to see every category at once.

Method 3: bulk-unsubscribe the whole travel pile
Accommodation platforms are serial senders, and most travelers are on several. If Airbnb inspiration mail is in your inbox, odds are Vrbo emails and Booking.com emails are too. ClearMyInbox scans your mailbox, lists every subscription sender, and processes the opt-outs in bulk instead of you chasing each preference center separately.
Hosts: your notifications are their own set
Hosting adds streams - inquiries, reservation requests, reviews, payout notices, hosting tips. The hosting tips and community mail are marketing-adjacent and toggle off under the same Notifications page, but resist the temptation to blanket-block the sender: booking requests expire if you miss them, and they arrive from the same Airbnb domain as the promos.
When the Airbnb opt-out does not stick
Give it a day or two first - queued sends deliver after the toggle flips. If marketing genuinely resumes, check whether a different category is responsible: community and policy mail, surveys, and program news sit behind different switches than travel inspiration. ClearMyInbox settles it definitively by re-checking the sender about a month after your unsubscribe and labeling it Confirmed stopped, or flagging it as still emailing so you know which toggle to revisit.

Filter, but block with care
Mailbox-side rules work here too, with one caveat: Airbnb sends reservations and marketing from the same domain, so a domain-wide block would cost you booking confirmations. In Gmail, filter on subject keywords or the specific promotional sender address and apply Skip Inbox rather than Delete; in Outlook, prefer Sweep to a hard entry in Blocked senders. The full filtering playbook is in how to stop unwanted emails on Gmail.
Frequently asked questions
Where are the Airbnb email settings?▾
Log in at airbnb.com, click your profile picture, choose Account, then open Notifications - or go straight to airbnb.com/account-settings/notifications. Marketing sits under Offers and updates; messages, reminders, and account mail sit under Account. Each category has its own toggles per channel.
Will unsubscribing stop reservation and host messages?▾
No. Messages from your host or guests, booking confirmations, and check-in details are not marketing - they belong to categories Airbnb keeps separate, and reservation and account activity notifications cannot be switched off at all. Turning off Offers and updates never silences a trip.
Why can I not turn some Airbnb notifications off?▾
Airbnb hard-codes a set it considers essential: reservations, account activity, legal updates, security and privacy notices, and customer service requests. These are excluded from the toggles by design, on top of any marketing preference.
Does the unsubscribe link in an Airbnb email work?▾
Yes. The footer Unsubscribe link in a promotional email opts you out of that email category, such as promotions and tips, without logging in. For full control across every category and channel you still want the Notifications page.
I am a host - can I quiet the marketing but keep booking alerts?▾
Yes, and you should do it from the Notifications page rather than the footer link. Leave the Account categories on so inquiries, requests, and guest messages still reach you instantly, and switch off only the Offers and updates categories.
How long until Airbnb marketing emails actually stop?▾
Allow a day or two. Emails already queued when you change a toggle can still be delivered, so a promotional email arriving hours after you opted out is not proof the setting failed.
