How to unsubscribe from Postmates emails

Postmates unsubscribe works a little differently than most brands because Postmates is no longer a standalone company - Uber bought it in December 2020 and the storefront now runs on Uber Eats infrastructure. The fastest fix is the Unsubscribe link in the footer of any Postmates promo email; the most thorough fix is Uber's central preferences hub at accounts.uber.com/communication, which governs the Uber account behind your Postmates orders. Order receipts and delivery updates are transactional and unaffected by either.

Method 1: the footer Unsubscribe link

  1. Open the most recent Postmates promotional email.
  2. Scroll to the very bottom and click Unsubscribe.
  3. Confirm on the page that loads. No login is needed - the link carries a signed token.

Gmail and Apple Mail usually surface the same opt-out as a native Unsubscribe button at the top of the message, courtesy of the List-Unsubscribe header, which saves the scroll.

Method 2: Uber account communication preferences

Because there is no separate Postmates preference center anymore, the authoritative controls live on the Uber account. Sign in at accounts.uber.com/communication and switch off the email channel for every promotional category listed. This closes streams the footer link never touches, including Uber Eats and partner offers tied to the same account. If Uber Eats itself is also filling your inbox, our Uber Eats unsubscribe guide walks that side in detail.

Method 3: app and push notifications

Marketing push notifications are controlled separately from email. In the Uber app, look under Settings → Notifications for the promotions toggle; the Postmates app exposes equivalent notification controls in its account settings. Turning off email never silences push, so hit both channels.

If the opt-out does not seem to hold

A Postmates opt-out that appears to fail is almost always an Uber-account issue rather than a broken link: multiple promo streams hang off one account, and silencing the Postmates deals list leaves the others live. Reactivation offers targeting lapsed customers are the other classic, since they can start months after your last order. ClearMyInbox does not take the opt-out on faith - around a month later it looks at your inbox again and marks Postmates as confirmed stopped or still sending, so you find out quickly if a stream survived.

Blocking as a fallback

For a sender that ignores everything, go to the mailbox level. Gmail: filter the exact Postmates promo address to Skip Inbox or Delete, keeping the rule tight enough that receipts still get through. Outlook: Sweep the address or add it to Blocked senders under Junk email settings.

What keeps arriving regardless

Receipts, order confirmations, refund notices, and delivery status messages are transactional. They exist only because you placed an order and no marketing preference removes them. That is normal and true of every delivery platform, not just Postmates.

Cleaning up the rest of the category

If Postmates is emailing you, odds are Grubhub and friends are too - delivery apps compete hard for inbox space. See our full guide to stopping food delivery emails for the category-wide approach.

Frequently asked questions

Is Postmates the same company as Uber Eats?

Postmates has been owned by Uber since the acquisition completed in December 2020. The Postmates storefront still exists, but orders, accounts, help pages, and terms all run through Uber - help.uber.com hosts the Postmates support section and the terms link points to uber.com.

What is the quickest way to stop Postmates promo emails?

Open any Postmates promotional email and click the Unsubscribe link in the footer. Because Postmates runs on Uber infrastructure, you can also sign in at accounts.uber.com/communication and switch off marketing categories across the whole Uber account.

Will unsubscribing from Postmates affect my Uber account?

No. Opting out of marketing email changes nothing about your account, saved payment methods, or order history. It only controls which promotional messages Uber is allowed to send you.

Why do Postmates emails keep arriving after I unsubscribed?

Uber operates several promotional streams per account, and a footer unsubscribe only covers the stream behind that one email. A Postmates deals list and an Uber Eats recommendations list can both mail you independently, so check the central communication preferences hub to close every stream at once.

Will I still get Postmates order confirmations?

Yes. Confirmations, receipts, and delivery updates are transactional messages tied to orders you place. They are exempt from marketing opt-outs and only appear when you actually order something.
