How to unsubscribe from Threads emails

To unsubscribe from Threads emails, open the Threads app and go to your profile, tap the two-line menu → Notifications, and switch off the email notification categories - or take the Unsubscribe from all option to end them in one tap. Method 1: the email preferences in the Threads app

1. Open Threads and tap the profile icon in the bottom-right corner.
2. Tap the two-line menu in the top right to open settings.
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Open the email notification preferences and toggle off the categories you do not want - the digests are the usual offenders ("People liked your posts", follower suggestions).
5. Or select Unsubscribe from all to stop every Threads email at once.

The same Notifications screen also holds the push controls, including per-category settings for likes, replies, mentions, and followers, plus a Pause All option. Those govern your phone, not your inbox - the email preferences are their own section.

Understand the Instagram relationship first

Every Threads profile is built on an Instagram account, and identity for both lives in Meta's Accounts Center. In practice that means three things for email. One: you manage Threads email inside Threads, not inside Instagram - the toggles are separate per app. Two: promotional mail from Instagram about Threads is Instagram marketing, governed by Instagram's own email settings. Three: security mail protects the shared account, so a login alert triggered by Threads activity may reference your Instagram credentials and cannot be switched off from either app.

Method 2: the unsubscribe link in the digest

Every Threads digest email ends with an Unsubscribe link that opens the same preferences without requiring the app - handy if Threads is long deleted from your phone but the "new follower suggestions" mail marches on. Modern mail clients also expose the message's List-Unsubscribe header as a one-click button near the sender name.

When the Threads emails do not stop

First check which app sent the survivor: mail promoting Threads to Instagram users comes from Instagram and answers to Instagram's toggles, not Threads'.
