How to unsubscribe from Instagram emails

To do an Instagram unsubscribe, the fastest path is the email and SMS notifications page at instagram.com/accounts/emailsettings on the web. The mobile app has the same controls under Settings and activity → Notifications → Email and SMS. Login-security alerts are not opt-out-able by design - they only fire on real account events. Everything else (feedback, reminders, product announcements, recommendations) has a toggle.

Method 1: Instagram email notifications on web

1. Open instagram.com/accounts/emailsettings while signed in.
2. You will see categories: Feedback emails, Reminder emails, Product emails, News emails, Support emails.
3. Untick every category you want to silence.
4. Save.

Login alert emails do not appear in the list because they cannot be disabled - Meta keeps them mandatory for account-security reasons. They only arrive when a new device or location signs in.

Method 2: Instagram email settings on iOS or Android

1. Open the Instagram app and tap your profile photo.
2. Tap the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top-right.
3. Tap Settings and activity.
4. Tap Notifications.
5. Tap Email and SMS.
6. Disable each category and save.

Method 3: in-email Unsubscribe link

Instagram marketing emails carry the standard List-Unsubscribe header and a footer Unsubscribe link. Gmail and Apple Mail show a top-of-message Unsubscribe button for one-click opt-out. The footer link works without a login but only kills that single category.

Account Center settings affect Facebook too

Instagram and Facebook share Meta's Account Center, so some preferences (like email frequency caps and combined Meta surveys) apply across both. Why Instagram emails keep coming after you opt out

Three things commonly undo an Instagram opt-out. First, the toggles are per account: if you run a second profile (a business account, a spare personal one), each has its own email settings, and silencing one leaves the other fully subscribed. Second, a footer Unsubscribe click only closes the single category that sent that message, so Reminders keep flowing even after you kill Product emails. Third, and least obvious, reinstalling the app or signing in on a new phone can quietly restore notification defaults, which is why emails sometimes reappear months after you switched everything off.
