How to unsubscribe from Patreon emails
A Patreon unsubscribe is straightforward once you know the trap: Patreon has two layers of email controls, and turning off the global one does not catch creator-specific overrides you opted into earlier. The fastest path is the Notifications page at patreon.com/settings/notifications, then a quick pass on the creators you follow to clear per-creator bell-icon toggles. None of this cancels your pledges - billing and email are kept separate.

Method 1: the Patreon notifications settings page
This is the global control panel. Toggling categories off here stops the bulk of mail.
- Sign in and go to patreon.com/settings/notifications.
- You will see a grid: rows are event types (new posts, comments, replies, mentions, recommendations) and columns are channels (Email, Push, In-app).
- Untick the Email column entries for every row you do not care about. Specifically: New post, Comments, Replies, Direct messages, Weekly digest, and any marketing-style toggles like Recommended creators.
- Save. Patreon applies the change immediately.
Notice that the Weekly digest has its own row - it is not subsumed by "New post" notifications. People often turn off post emails and remain puzzled by the weekly digest still arriving.
Method 2: clear per-creator bell toggles
Patreon lets you over-ride the global setting on a per-creator basis. If at some point you tapped the bell icon on a creator's page to "always get notified about new posts", that override survives even when you globally disable post-notification emails.
- Open the Memberships page at patreon.com/memberships to see every creator you support or follow.
- Click into each one and check the bell icon at the top of the creator page.
- Switch it off so new posts go silent.
Past or cancelled pledges may not show on the Memberships page but can still have an active bell toggle. If you keep getting one specific creator's post emails, open their page directly and clear the bell there.
Method 3: the unsubscribe link inside a Patreon email
Every Patreon notification has a footer Unsubscribe link that opts you out of that exact category for that exact creator. It is the narrowest possible opt-out: useful if you only want to silence one creator's post emails but keep everyone else.
Method 4: bulk unsubscribe across your inbox
Patreon is one of many senders that share inbox real estate with newsletters, retailers, and SaaS notifications. ClearMyInbox scans your inbox, surfaces every sender that publishes a List-Unsubscribe mail header (Patreon does), and opts you out of every selected sender in one batch. You can stop Patreon post emails alongside every other recurring sender you no longer want.
What about transactional Patreon email?
Receipts, payment failures, and "your pledge will renew on..." emails are transactional and cannot be turned off through the Notifications page. Patreon is legally required to send some of these (failed-payment receipts, account-security notices). They will continue regardless of the marketing opt-out, but they only fire on real account events, not on a marketing schedule.
Frequently asked questions
Does unsubscribing from Patreon emails cancel my pledges? ▾
No. Email preferences and your active pledges are completely separate. You will continue to be charged each month for any creators you support until you cancel those pledges from the Memberships page.
Why am I still getting emails from one specific Patreon creator? ▾
Patreon has both global notification settings and per-creator post-notification toggles. The per-creator setting lives on the creator profile page under the bell icon. Even with global email off, an individual creator override can re-enable mail for new posts from that creator.
Can creators see if I unsubscribed? ▾
No. Creators see your pledge status, not your email preferences. Opting out of email notifications is invisible to them. They can still see your name in their patron list as long as your pledge is active.
How do I stop the Patreon weekly digest? ▾
The weekly digest is a separate toggle under Notifications → Email on Patreon. Untick Weekly digest specifically - turning off "New post" emails does not affect the digest.
I unsubscribed but emails are still arriving. Why? ▾
Patreon batches some notification emails (digest, summaries). After you turn the setting off, a digest that was already queued may still land in your inbox once before the change takes effect. Anything still arriving 48 hours after the toggle change is worth reporting to Patreon support.
