How do I get the raw source of an email?
- Gmail (web): open the email, click the three-dot menu in the top right, choose Show original, then Copy to clipboard and paste it above.
- Outlook (web): open the email, click the three-dot menu, choose View then View message source, and copy everything.
- Apple Mail: open the email, then View, Message, Raw Source. Copy the whole window.
- Thunderbird: open the email and press Ctrl+U (Cmd+U on Mac).
- Most desktop clients can also drag an email out as a .eml file - drop it straight onto the box above.
Where unsubscribe links hide
Senders that want you on their list forever get creative. The most common hiding places this tool checks:
- The List-Unsubscribe header - an invisible header most mail apps do not display. It is often the most reliable route, and one-click variants unsubscribe you with a single request.
- Tiny footer text - light grey, size 10, below the social icons.
- Image buttons - the word "unsubscribe" is inside an image, so searching the page text finds nothing. The tool reads image alt text too.
- Mailto addresses - some senders only accept unsubscribe requests by email. These rank last because they are slow and often ignored.

Why can I not find an unsubscribe link in the email?
Some senders hide the link in tiny grey footer text, put it behind an image button, or only include it in the hidden List-Unsubscribe header that most email apps do not show. This tool reads both the headers and the HTML body, so it finds links that are invisible when you just read the message.
What does the ranking mean?
Links are ranked by how likely they are to actually unsubscribe you: a one-click header link ranks highest, then a standard header link, then a link whose visible text says unsubscribe, then a link that only looks unsubscribe-shaped in its URL, and finally mailto addresses. It is the same ranking the ClearMyInbox scanner uses across whole inboxes.
The email has no unsubscribe link at all. What now?
Legitimate bulk email is required to offer a way out, so a marketing email with no unsubscribe route is a strong spam signal. Mark it as spam rather than replying, and if the sender is a UK company that keeps emailing you, you can also report them to the ICO.
Is my email uploaded when I use this?
